About the event
Cities occupy only 2% of the Earth's crust but are responsible for 80% of the CO2 production. With an expanding roster of players and growing interest in urban technology, the interstitial space between the built environment and its digital counterpart calls for our focused attention. Snoweria will be discussing a range of work from the Senseable City Lab and her own repertoire that showcases the potential of smart urban futures.
Snoweria is a designer, artist, and mathematician. In 2017, her proposal to hybridize a waste-to-energy plant with a mosque was awarded an Architizer A+ Jury Award. Last year, her design work was featured on the cover of Nature. She received her education from Harvard University and was most recently a staff researcher at the MIT Senseable City Lab. Her work spans architecture, urbanism, computation, and technology. She also draws a web comic called Lonesome Whales.
